This famous (and totally horrifying) photograph has got to be the inspiration behind the “scream” mask!

It was snapped in the early 1960′s (prior to prolific photoshop tomfoolery) in Newby Church, North Yorkshire, UK by the Reverend K F Lord.

The church was 200 years old, however, many believe that the monks garb is more indicitive of the dress code from the 1500′s.
